Welcome to episode #295 of the the podcast celebrating the Alea Iacta Est gaming community, the die has been podcast. This is Tetsemi: To my left is is Mkallah: (Hey guys, there is a mocha java cake in the guild kitchen) . And to my right Mewkow (Greetings, gamers!) It’s been a while, so we are having a host show, to talk about what AIE is up to and what we are doing in and out of game.

Ok, we’ll be chatting soon, but first, let’s cover this week’s news…

AIE News

Community
This month’s community event will be in World of Warcraft during the Micro-holiday on April 28th, Honor a Guard! We’re going to celebrate the event and parade around Orgrimmar.

Next month’s community event will also be in WoW, helping folks who want to participate in the Balloon Tour events and those that need help with PvP for Children’s Week to finally finish off What a Long, Strange, Trip it’s Been achievement.

WoW
August 14, the day before Cyberwaif’s birthday, AND the announced release date of Battle for Azeroth! With this announcement, the physical collector’s edition is available for sale and includes a hardcover book with two novella’s exclusive to the physical collector’s edition with story about Battle for Azeroth. Excerpts were posted by Blizzard and are really worth reading – https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/21647285/collector-s-edition-a-tale-of-two-novellas For those of you not getting the physical collector’s edition, the novella’s will be for sale in digitial form minus all the artwork that is exclusive to the hard cover version. If you’ve already bought the expansion digitally in either standard or collector’s edition form and order the physical version, Blizzard will refund the cost of your initial purchase to your account’s Battle.net balance.

Some highlights from the PAX East announcement –

Dark Iron Dwarves and Mag’har Orcs will be the first two new Allied Races. Play through the War Campaign at release and unlock them.
Kul’Tiran and Zandalari Trolls will come later in the expansion.
Another round of realm connections is coming!
The pre-expansion patch will include content in Darkshore that tells the backstory of the Burning of Teldrassil. It will include both story quests and replayable skirmishes with elites.
There will be 2.5D animated pieces that tells the story of the Burning of Teldrassil.

Check out more information over at MMO-Champion and WoWHead which have been tracking all the announcements and dev interviews.

Also, if you are in Alpha and want to join the AIE Guild there, we have formed Alea Iacta Est Audacia on the Sylvanas server on the Alliance side. That’s right, we’re on the Alliance side so we don’t spoil the Horde storyline since that’s where the majority of our folks will be playing at the start. Just hop into the #WoW channel in AIE Discord and ask for an invite or DM Tetsemi on Discord as well.

SWTOR
Mandatory Fun Night, where attendance is optional, but fun is mandatory, is on the Republic side this week. They will be tackling GoTM as their main objective with the possibility of another MFN randomly popping up later in the week depending on Conquest goals. As always please keep track of AIE Discord and the #SWTOR channel for up to date information and make sure you’ve completed your story line far enough to have your own ship.

Since we were gone both patch 5.8 and 5.8a dropped with a loud thud or clank depending on who you talk to. Major highlights were the Conquest overhaul, the return of followers and the final boss of GoTM, Izax. Links to both sets of notes are below, and the Conquest overhaul is a work in progress, to put it politely. There will be more changes ahead in patch 5.9 restoring some of the ability of alts to participate in Conquest and provide more variety in ways to participate in Conquest as well as more incentive for larger guilds to invade Medium and Large planets.

Also, for those that might have missed it, Eureka the forbidden land has been opened. Did you play FF11 and enjoyed the Notorious Mobs and camping them, the mad dash for mobs and resources? In a similar vein to the Palace of the Dead, you will have separate leveling in this new land. Interestingly enough, rumor has it that the dungeon queues have taken a hit as a result, and even DPS are in short supply there.

STO
https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10838844-victory-is-life-our-fourth-expansion%2C-coming-june-2018%21

Star Trek Online is incredibly proud to announce our fourth major expansion, Victory is Life. Paying homage to fan-favorite Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, this brand-new expansion will bring Captains to the Gamma Quadrant and beyond, in a new story kicked off by the invasion of the mysterious Hur’q.

In addition to new cast members and features, Victory is Life will raise the Star Trek Online level cap to 65, introduce a new queue, new progression systems, and will add a Sector Battlezone, a new gameplay feature that takes players into a war between the stars to save the Gamma Quadrant.

EVE
AIEU is moving again and trading Russian overlords for Chinese overlords. AIEU and it’s aliance will be moving to a new region of space. Once there we will be paying the “IRON PRICE” for our space sovereignty. AIEU will be going to war!

A special message from the eternal beloved AIEU space dictator Hoots

LOTRO
There are quite a few events currently running or upcoming in LOTRO.

Code MARKAC gets a 100% Mark Acquisition (90 minutes) bonus until April 12th

ESO
In ESO, the guild is getting active again with the new content and fixes since launch making it a solid game. We had a guild dungeon run over the weekend and we have opened a guild house.

We now have a guild account and guild house set up in ESO. The account is @AIEGuild. To get to the guild house, right click on that account in the guild roster and select “Visit Primary Residence”.

The house is located right on the outskirts of Rawl’kha with an Outlaws Den just out the back door and easy access to a small town with everything centrally located, bank, stable, wayshrine, crafting and some of the top guild traders.

Everyone in the guild right now is set up as a “decorator” and can move any decos around. Only the owner can place. If you have decos you want placed just mail them to @AIEGuild and I’ll drop for you to move where you’d like. Once things settle down we can think about locking decorating but we can all just play around with it for now. Enjoy!

In game news, a new expansion was announced called Summerset(More on that in 2 weeks), and if you haven’t seen already, the anniversary event has begun. Make sure to find the baker in the starter cities and grab your cake memento. During the event, summoning and using the special cake will give you a huge XP boost. Also, make sure to grind those daily quests because during the event, they will also drop a special anniversary loot box full of goodies, and some super rare motifs and other epic items.

Not enough

Mewkow
Just watched Ready Player One. Like, literally an hour ago.
Far Cry 5 had my attention for the most part.
ESO had the latter bit of it.
Now starting up on Witcher 3.
And when I can sneak it in, I’ve been poking at the WoW Alpha.

Tetsemi
In WoW, leveling up the 4 allied races (2 Horde, 2 Alliance) (2 Alliance at 30, HMT at 66, and Nightbourne at 78). Working on my Alchemist, trying to get all the researched discoveries. Still raiding, but in a much more relaxed fashion now that we’ve killed Argus a few times. Still haven’t got the Pantheon trinket on Tetsemi, but we do have enough people with it on the raid team to get the bonus.

In SWTOR, mainly focusing on my Sith Sorcerer to participate in Conquest weeks, though that’ll change this week as we focus on the Republic side. Still trying to collect all the Odessen armor set pieces from the various loot boxes and max out the rep with your four alliance leaders on Odessen.

A ton of soul searching in WoW. Listen to episode 263 of Azeroth Round Table if you want some more audio. Because Blizzard has been very good at communicating the mechanical aspects of the expansion but haven’t yet shared the story beats of it, Tetsemi, in WoW, will most likely be retired as a character and one of the allied races (Nightbourne or Highmountain Tauren) will take up his banner in Battle for Azeroth.
