Boards and Swords – Episodes 200 & 201
Boards & Swords 200 LIVE from High Tide Games: We’ve been doing this for 200 episodes! So we are live on location at High Tide Games in Southern Maryland so real people can groan at our bad jokes. Also, Asmodee is making board games about Squid Game and another new Dune board game is coming. Plus, we get others to tell us bad puns for once as we do a “Pun-off” to give away a ton of prizes! There’s still plenty to give away! Email us with what you think is your best pun and/or related feedback on what we could do better!
Boards & Swords 201 Gen Con 2022: Another on location episode! Next time we’ll be back in the studio but in this episode Chris is on the floor at Gen Con 2022 talking with a bunch of folks about what they’ve got on display. Dual Universe is a Sci-Fi voxels based sandbox MMO full of possibilities. Brave the vacuum of deep space to mine precious resources from asteroids. Create powerful spaceships, foreboding fortresses, or megalithic Starbases of your own design. Run trade through pirate infested space between planets. Become a tycoon of industry or a master of the market. Or even lead an army against enemy forces. Dual Universe is launching into its final release on September 27th and AIE will be there.
With this launch will come a wipe, starting all players on a level playing field. So even if you haven’t played during the years long Beta you can still play along with all.
Ask Catavarie any questions you have in the Dual Universe channel under nomads in the Discord.
Come on AIE let’s DU(do) it!
Lost Ark continues to experience a lull in participation as most are exploring other new game releases. However, weekly tasks are still being set in only the primary guild “Aie Communitas.” Please arrange to move any characters you may still be playing to this primary guild. Applications are being accepted for the guild. Mention your character name and when you apply to Durus in discord and it will be approved.
Please note that with the reduced activity we’ll be retiring the auxiliary guilds of “Aie Honoris” and “Aie Fidelis”, neither of which made it past guild level 3. Any characters active in these guilds are encouraged to drop the guild and apply for “Aie Communitas.” Please contact Durus in discord or make a post to lostark in the AIE discord with the hashtag lostark-app. Keep in touch with updates to the Lost Ark guilds in the AIE discord’s lostark-announce channel.
In game news, this past week saw the release of the “Under the Arkesian Sun” update that features the Maharaka festival, return of Event Guardians, and the Pet Ranch. More details are available at https://www.playlostark.com/en-us/news/articles/under-the-arkesian-sun-release-notes
Also, @Nazrai has set up an Empyrion server for Nomads. Pins are in the nomads channel.
In game event Trial of Style is coming this week and Gustytail will be doing ad hoc runs for Transmog Glory. Raid Teams are making progress on their Jiggles-worth Sr. (aka jellycat) mounts.
Noob Raid has been doing the Fated raids with the plan to eventually get the mount reward.
Pre patch for WotLK hits on Tuesday, with all the fun stuff, to include Scourge invasions, and Zombies, the ability to roll and level Death Knights (level 55), new talents, and level xp decreases. WotLK hits on 26 Sep at 6pm server time, and #10forWrath continues to come together, with Shrimpiclese as our Raid leader. We will be raiding on Saturday nights from 10-1 server time, and Sunday night from 10-11:30 for clean up. @Bhock continues to reward new players with 100g for mounts and training. Just pop a note into the WoW classic channel, and ask for an invite. We are usually around most of the time.
We are playing through the new content of 7.1 (Digging Deeper) and entering into the next step of the gear upgrade dance, including the return of moddable gear! You can upgrade your gear through solo activities and group activities, or a mix. It’s really your choice. (There may be spreadsheets involved) Come join us for MFN on Tuesdays where we will do a little of this and a little of that. And if you have questions about how any of it works, hop into discord anytime and ask away.
We have Operations Teams running on most nights of the week. If you want to try this type of larger group game play, this might be for you. Our raid leaders are always on the lookout for alternates and some of our teams are looking for new permanent members.
Cool things the guild has been doing:
– Killing World Bosses and clearing Skyshards in various zones.
– We’ve been practicing our Tales of Tribute skills and helping each other learn the game in preparation for an upcoming Tales of Tribute tournament hosted by Kraemer.
– If you are interested in running dungeons for pledges we have two dungeon groups that occasionally need someone to fill in. Check out the Undaunted Enclave channel in Discord for more information.
Game or press release news:
– Lost Depths DLC and Update 35 launched last week. It brought two new dungeons, new gear, and some class and skill changes.
Things planned or coming up for the guild:
We have an exciting announcement from @kraemer29: Greeting and Salutations to all of you in the great AIE community. My name is Ken and I primarily play in our branch of the Elder Scrolls Online as well as dabble in SWTOR STO and wow.
With ESO update 34 the release of the High Isle Chapter came their first attempt at a card game known as Tales of Tribute. This card game that had the community in an uproar has caught fire and swept into the hearts of all that play the game.
So I have fronted the gold and decided that we shall have our first AIE ToT tournament which will officially start Monday September 5th and run until Monday October 10. I will post the brackets each week on Mondays so everyone can see who they get to play that week as well as the current standings.
Players will have one week Monday thru Sunday to play their match against each other and post a screenshot of the result which will be verified and added to the ongoing tournament standings. To enter this AIE tournament
1 – you must have High Isle Chapter of ESO
2 – Must be a member of AIE Community
3 – have fun
4 – a screenshot of the result of the match must be posted in the channel so wins and loses can be kept track of
5 – you must complete all matches during the 7 day period.
6 – each player will have 3 matches per week
7 – the event will run 6 weeks
8 – each player will have a total of 18 tales of tribute matches against the other tournament players
9 – results will be posted weekly on Mondays with current rankings
10 – I will be placing these funds into the ESO guild bank today to be awarded out to the top 10 finishers in this tournament and I am hoping that our Favorite guild leader Dankinia will be the one you see when the tournaments final standings are listed to get your reward. So with that I open up sign ups as of now August 8 and wish all of you good luck and great card games
I hope you all have fun playing and may the best card shark win or go down fighting
To enter the tournament all you have to do is send a DM to @kraemer29 and let me know your userid for ESO. It is not too late to sign up for the tourney, it starts September 5 and runs till 10/10 and pays out 10 spots we currently have 6 people enrolled just let me know in the channel here and i will get you listed

Federation colony is more than half way through tier V. We are under 60 projects for two of the branches being done with the third not far behind. Grebog keeps adding in other provision projects and Starbase filler projects depending on the needs of the colony projects and any overlap.
KDF is almost done with the dilithium mine and all the discounts that unlock. The Starbase is closing in on tier 2. Once the dilithium mine is done, Grebog will be adding another smallholding into the rotation of projects.
Fun night is Thursday at 11 pm Eastern. Every third Thursday we do a KDF night.
Fleet Action Report episode 112 will be recorded live on Monday at 11 pm Eastern. This week Nikodas will be doing a deep dive into a special theme build he calls the Ice Princess.
GW2 is now 10 years old and available on Steam! As part of the Steam launch and 10th anniversary, Arenanet has made a bunch of adjustments to the new player experience making it smoother and faster than before. They have also unlocked the raptor mount if you have at least one expansion. As always, AIE Xiphos is there to help if you want to see why GW2 has thrived for a decade. MFN is on Mondays at 9pm ET, dungeons and more nights is the 2nd Friday of each month. Still looking for materials for the guild hall.
Patch 6.2 Buried Memory!
This will be a MSQ spoiler free discussion. If you have not reached 6.2, fear not, as we will not be talking about any of the plot points, themes, characters, locations, encounters, or other items of the MSQ other than the fact that there is more MSQ, it’s great, and you have a new dungeon (common) and a trial to do! (not as common, but still happens on a regular basis)
The MSQ in 6.2 It’s great. You should play it.
The trial has its normal story mode and also an Extreme mode available as well. Successful adventurers in this mode will score you an iLevel 615 weapon.
Besides the MSQ, we have a new raid tier! The 2nd wing of Pandaemonium is now open. The Savage mode of this raid will not unlock until Tuesday, however.
For the non-savage and EX players, we have the next chapter of Tataru’s Grand Adventure. This continues her fun story. Side note, you do need to complete the 24-player Mhach. It’s a fun and neat story.
For those still leveling or new to the game, further changes to the game have been made to the MSQ to allow for a more single player experience. Specifically, the Steps of Faith has been re-worked into a single-player duty.
Oh, and a new feature. Nothing big.
So, go complete the Endwalker base expansion first. No island until you complete it.
But once you do, you get an island. With stuff! And you do things. Island things!
Also neato things.
Unreal! Containment bay something-something, It’s the Sephirot fight from Heavensward fame. Also known as the Powerman 5000 fight.
It’s the same fight as the EX version from heavensward but scaled up to 90.
