Working Class Nerds
Episode 69: We’ve been Boarded by Deathstar Troopers!!!
The guys are joined by ALL of the members of The Deathstar Troopers! They’re the SWTOR raid team that Marcus runs on Sunday evenings. The roster includes: Dr. Swtor, Ted, Beaux, Slayer, Katerina, Kione, and Ven! They talk about how everyone got started with running operations, and why they all love it so much!
The game’s first season is now well underway with the first manhunt target, “Neptune,”completed by most players. New “league” and “global event” play is now live.
Leagues consist of certain timed challenges that confer ranks for better completion times in missions. These ranks translate into rewards bestowed by claimed crates in the league menu. Collect seasonal items and even an exotic.
This global event that went live last week, “Polarity Switch,” consists of switching between active colors displayed on your character to defeat correspondingly colored mobs in the game. Reward caches are conferred after completing challenges such as “eliminating positive polarity Outcasts,” or other factions, etc.
The next manhunt target, “Venus,” goes live on the 31st, along with the next apparel event, “Urban Jungle.”
Some excitement surrounding the game has died down as it’s been struggling with many bugs and game balance issues — some directly related to the new season’s events. Despite that AIE participation is still reasonably high, averaging 18-20 people online per day.

Fun nights are Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30pm EST.
Tuesdays are casual and legacy content. It is more relaxed and gives a chance for people to see some content that may not be possible solo or something that groups do not normally form for anymore. Last week, we did some Heavensward Bismark, for pony farming!
This week, we plan on running Ravana, also from Heavensward.
Thursday, we do more traditional end game raiding. We are currently gearing up via Eden’s Verse. We ask that potential raiders join our raid discord. Raids do have a signup each week.
Saturday, Kelseer is running map nights for fame, riches, and overall fun! Join us at 9:30pm EST Saturday to run 8 player treasure maps. For those not aware, this is a very profitable and very fun and unique game activity.
In the crafting front, we are working on new airship and submarines in the guild workshop, that anyone in the FC can help build. See the AIE website at aie-guild.org for the latest Workshop blog post for the details.
If you are looking to get into the game, the Winter Sale is on for 40% off either just the Shadowbringers expansion or the complete edition from the Square Enix Store. A free demo is also available. And with that, let’s get back to Sema and find out what’s going on in SWTOR.
On rare weeks during the year, an opportunity presents itself for one of several planets to be conquered. It’s tricky to know when to go for it and which planet to pick. And after that it takes effort by everyone in the guild throughout the week to succeed. Luckily our team has some big brains that can make good decisions and lots of willing hands to pitch in. Now we can all proudly wear our Conqueror of Nar Shaddaa titles!
MFNs continue to rock and roll on Tuesdays at 9PM Eastern. Everyone is welcome. Lots of stuff is level independent, as long as you don’t mind, you know, dying and stuff. For some parts of it, your character might need to be level 50+ or 70+, but come hang out with us in voice while you level.
March MEGA was a World Boss Crawl which is always a lot of fun–good company, romping around the galaxy, and perhaps some progress on that vehicle mission that’s been in your log forever.
April 10th 9pm eastern (Real World Time)
Corley has taken over this month’s mega! He will be bringing back “The Amazing Race!”
Come join in traveling the galaxy with us!!!
Several games do or used to do a base class to a certain level (with or without story) and then you unlocked your advanced class. WoW/Classic did this around level 10, SWTOR used to do this around level 10, FFXIV does this at level 30. Do you like this type of advancement and does it make the games more interesting to have it, or do you prefer to just jump in at the start and have the same class to max level?
And that’s our show for tonight. While the chatroom begins suggesting show titles, we want to thank Sema for joining us. And don’t forget, after the show is the AIE podcast stream, this week they are doing:
