Noob Raids are running again. They are a casual group that runs LFR with the goal of learning how to raid and having fun. We run every Saturday night at 11pm server time and invites go out about 15 minutes prior.

Want to host an in game event? We had some great events in October, and would love to continue to be active in November as well. Why not try your hand at hosting a baking event for Pilgrims Bounty or a Costume Party with an all black gear theme for Black Friday. Contact the lovely Nevermore in game, on the forums, or on Twitter if you want to plan a guild event.

How is patch 7.1 treating you? Still going through patch 7.0 content and wondering what all the fuss is? Well, last Tuesday, a new Mythic dungeon set in Kharazan opened, along with a continuation of the Suramar story line. A new 3 boss raid called Trials of Valor are opened allowing you wrap up the Stormheim storyline with Odyn (asshole) and Helya (asshole) and Gaurm (cute doggie). No STO updates this week, Captain Cybyl has gone on a rare away mission and is too busy outsmarting the Klingons to be able to send a transmission.

And with that, let’s get back to Abovan and find out what’s going on in Final Fantasy XIV..

Final Fantasy Fan Fest Wrapped up their US based show in Las Vegas.

Next shows is in Japan on Dec 24 and Dec 25, Germany Feb 18 and 19.

Tons of announcements for FFXIV, including Stormblood, the next expansion to hit next summer.

New Stuff:

3 New classes, what they are is a mystery, but the Yoshi-P clue he left us was his shirt with Marvel’s Scarlet Witch on it. We are pretty sure he is referring to Red Mage as a new job in Stormblood.

All classes, combat, gathering, and crafting has their leveling cap raised to 70.

Combat skill revamp, dumping useless skills, combining skills from similar roles to reduce the amount of “skill bloat”.

The expansion will take place in Ala Mhigo, a city that was invaded and was under the control of the Empire for the last 20 years. Can we save it? Will they want to be saved? The drama ensues!

New gear and recipes, as created from the FFXIV fan design gear contest!

Moar inventory slots!

More housing areas.

Dropping PS3 support, but offering a free upgrade to PS4 if you are still on the PS3 version of the game.

What’s in the game now?

Patch 3.4 hit somewhat recently. We will get more patches before the expansion, so let’s go over some highlights of what we have now.

Palace of the Dead (Deep Dungeon)

Randomized dungeon, different leveling curve and track.
Team of 4 (matched or fixed) goes into a randomly generated dungeon. Saves every 10 levels, ending with a boss fight. Traps, buffs, and transformations abound!
Great way to learn a new class, since it runs at a different leveling track, greatly accelerated, so you can see how the class feels at higher levels very quickly.
Currently, there are 50 floors to run though, with 51-150 to be released on the mini-patch, 3.45, dropping on Nov 1.
Great way to get experience on your actual class, pets, fun loot, and on occasion, materia that is used to augment your gear.
After time, you will gear up your atherial gear (Weapon and armor) and can then bring that out with you to the rest of the world to use.

Screenshot enhancements and filters.

Taking screenshots to the next level, there has been some enhancements on how screenshots can be taken. You can sync animations with other party members with a /grouppose. You can also freeze animations or move them one frame at a time to get that perfect shot. New in 3.4, there are now ways of changing the depth of field, to de-emphasize the background, add a iris to the outside of the frame, change the color balance, or apply a filter to the image for that artistic view.
Mounts and pets can also be included in the group pose, making for a great way to show off your character!

Void Ark
Weeping City
24 Man Raids
Casual Raid Content, similar to LFR

Alex Raids
3 Raids, 1 for each raid patch
8 Man raids
Story mode, Savage Mode

The Feast
8 Player PVP Arena Style
Point based system, so if you are killed, you still get to keep playing.
