Welcome to episode #236 of the the podcast celebrating the Alea Iacta Est gaming community, the die has ben podcast. This is Tetsemi (lost somewhere in the Tanann Jungle) and to my left is Mkallah – (There are chocolate fig cakes in the guild kitchen). We sent Alludra out on a super secret assignment (okay let’s be honest, she’s digging in the dirt, shocking I know.). This week we are joined by special guest Abovan who is here to talk to us about AIE in Final Fantasy 14. Welcome!

Community
The great summer nerd family reunion, Nerdtacular, is quickly approaching. The annual celebration of all things Frogpants is just under a month away. There are still a few tickets left, so if you have been thinking about going, but were waiting for the last minute- that time is now! There is also a meetup posted on http://www.meetup.com/Alea-Iacta-Est and there is plenty of chatter in the Nerdtacular section of the Frogpants forums, including people planning caravans, looking for roommates, boardgame requests and more.

Apparently politics and drama are rearing their ugly head in EvE (shocking I tell you) and Hoots has posted some Emergency Evacuation Procedures in case of losing stuff in Fountain. Fly safe and remember, as StupidGenius says, exploding really is your only option.

FFXIV

AIE’s first airship, was built by AIE members. Pooling our resources together, we were able to christen our first Airship, Henry.

And with that, let’s get back to Abovan and find out what’s going on in Final Fantasy XIV..

GAME NEWS

Heavensward expansion released for the general public on June 23rd. This include the Mac client.

OMG is this a big expansion pack!

New story quests that is about 40 hours to do there.
Zones are OMG big! Like pre-Cataclysm Barrens big.
Free Company Workshop, to build things as a FC.
Free Company airships to build, upgrade, maintain, and send out on missions for rare crafting materials for the FC.
Future updates will allow us to accompany the airship on its missions.
New class quests and class storylines.
New classes to boot!
DX11 for increased graphical fidelity. In normal speak, it made pretty game more pretty.
Flying mounts –
Get a flying mount (get one early in story quests)
Acquire the “winds” in each zone. Some are story quests, some are side quests, some are just locations in the zone that you just click on.
Some existing mounts will fly.
Get to make your own airship.
Raids – Alexender. Get to raid inside of a living castle — When it’s released. They are giving 2 weeks to play the game without raiding available. In 2 weeks after that, savage raids will be available.
