Tetsemi: – Welcome to episode #233 of the the podcast celebrating you, the Alea Iacta Est gaming community, the die has ben podcast. This is Tetsemi: To my literal left is Mkallah – (I can sleep when I’m dead)! And to my right is Alludra (Hey, AIE, I think you’re awesome.. This week we are joined by a trio of special guests- Abovan, Durus, and Mewcow from Final Fantasy 14. Welcome!
Ok, we’ll be digging into Final Fantasy shortly, but first, let’s cover this week’s news…
MK- We don’t have a lot of Guild specific news, but Blizzard has on information overload the past few weeks.
Selfie Scavenger Hunt Sweepstakes – Blizzard will be posting a picture a week and it is challenging you- yes you- the WOW player to hunt down the location in game and take a selfie- submit the screenshot for a chance to win Blizzard gear, Battlenet balance codes, an Iphone 6, and the grand prize- a trip for two to Blizzcon 2015!
In a recent interview with Polygon, Ion Hazzikostas dropped a bit of a bomb, stating that there will be No Flying in Warlords of Draynor. This has been talked about extensively in all manner of WOW podcasts and on the WOW forums, so we won’t rehash it here- but, I hear that if in game flying is your thing, the Final Fantasy folks may have the game for you!
Patch 6.2 is forthcoming- and have gotten a small preview of what to expect, including
Pets Galore – new battle pets can be found in Tanaan Jungle- four of which are brand new and can be caught for the first time- the Bloodbeak, the Cerulean Moth, the Violet Firefly, and the Fen Crab. Plus, a quest for the cutest little Fel Pup ever and 15 fel- corrupted legendary pets! Once patch 6.2 opens, the Pet Battlemaster in your garrison will be able to get you started.
Alludra- Bonus Events and Adventure Guide – http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/371668-patch-62-previewbonus-events-and-adventure-guide/
The Bonus Events system consists of a rotating schedule of seven different activities, currently scheduled to run from Friday through Monday of each week. Each Bonus Event grants a passive bonus to a particular game activity and offers a once-per-event quest with a noteworthy reward for accomplishing a related goal. The in-game calendar (located in the upper right-hand corner of the mini-map) can serve as your one-stop reference for the event schedule. The Adventure Guide—discussed in detail below—will also offer a direct link to active Bonus Events, allowing you to easily accept any associated quests.
Timewalking, Draenor Dungeons, Battlegrounds, Arena Skirmishes, Apexis, and Pet Battles are the different types of Bonus Events
Patch 6.2 – Timewalking – http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/18710308/
Timewalking will be available to characters who are level 71 and higher for Burning Crusade content, and level 81 and up for Wrath of the Lich King dungeons. It will open up only during certain three-day-long weekend holidays. While Timewalking, your power will be adjusted down to the level of the Heroic dungeon, but you’ll retain all of your skills and talents. We will also be testing additional rewards, such as a level 100 quest that rewards one Seal of Tempered Fate per weekend, so keep an eye on the in-game calendar.
A good challenge deserves a good reward, so to go along with scaling you down, we’re going through most every piece of loot in each Timewalker dungeon and scaling it up. That’s right, when you Timewalk through Utgarde Pinnacle, take down King Ymiron, and loot his Red Sword of Courage, it will scale up to an item level appropriate for use at your level.
Tet- Dev Watercooler – Itemization in 6.2 – http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/373799-dev-watercooler-itemization-in-62/
The Personal Loot system offers several advantages to certain group types, but there are still several areas where we think we can make improvements. Our goals with Personal Loot going forward are threefold:
Make Personal Loot more consistent and rewarding.
Bring Personal Loot up to be competitive with Group Loot, so players who prefer Personal Loot receive rewards comparable to those you get from groups using Master Loot or Need/Greed.
Celebrate rewarding Personal Loot within the group in a way that captures the excitement of receiving rewards in Group Loot.
Secondary Stats –
Inside Hellfire Citadel, you’ll see a wider range of high and low secondary stat values on items than you have in a long time. Alongside some tuning adjustments that should ensure your attuned stats are the right choice, this change should also make it easier for you to identify which items are good for you in a more interesting way than just “equip the highest Item Level.”
MK- Heroes of the Storm –
Scott is working on a Heroes of the Storm Frogpants Tournament, keep your eyes on Twitter @ScottJohnson and the forums as more information becomes available.
Alludra – SWTOR
Please give a round of applause- or a chorus of ohhhhhhs to our two newest Star Wars Officers- Sferics and Arveshet. Both are long time, well known community members that will be helping out with guild business and will round out the task crew.
Don’t forget that Tuesday’s Mandatory Fun night is still running strong. The crew over in SWTOR run Tuesdays at 8PM central and stream live on twitch.tv/newoverlords. They update the forums regularly on what the plan is for any given Tuesday night.
And, on the most recent episode of the SWTOR Escape Podcast- @AIESema, @MaxTheGrey and Astromech EPC-91 talk in detail about the monolith fights on Ziost including rewards, strats and achievements. We also cover game news for the week from SWTOR in general and from Alea Iacta Est.
Sunday, 31 May at 03:00 EVE our fearful fearless leader will undock to give us peons a chance of a lifetime. Hoots will be somewhere in the Griffin Constellation awaiting for certain demise. So bring your probes and practice your D-Scan and lets give Hoots a better death than his last one!
MK- Guild Wars 2
Guild Wars 2 may have the best way to handle hackers!
A character controlled by a hacker who used exploits to dominate the game has been put to death in the virtual world. The character, called DarkSide, was stripped then forced to leap to their death from a high bridge. The death sentence was carried out after players gathered evidence about the trouble the hacker had caused. This helped the game’s security staff find the player, take over their account and kill them off.

Question of the Week:
What is your favourite space ship
Answers to last weeks question –
@IvoryTiger Imperial shuttle, or Imperial tie fighter. I just love those lines. I can hear the Imp march when I see them.
@AIEPodcast The original Battlestar Galactica Vipers. When I was a kid, they seemed like space sports cars!
@AIEPodcast Serenity of course.
Ben Bumhoffer @AltheMage
@AIEPodcast The Millennium Falcon has always been my choice for space flight. Although the Milano seems pretty sweet.
Kardinal. Hunter. @KardinalHunts
@AIEPodcast there’s probably another I’m not thinking of, but Space Battleship Yamato has a special place in my heart.
@AIEPodcast That one from spaceballs. Yeah, that was cool.
@AIEPodcast Starship Enterprise. #aieguild
David A. Singer @VinoTecha
@AIEPodcast BSG Vipers. Probably because of PoV when they launched. #aieguild
John Long @Arveshet
@AIEPodcast The Imperial Agent ship in #SWTOR So pretty. #AIESWTOR
John Maloney @john_maloney
@AIEPodcast The Tie Defender is a cool ship.
John Maloney @john_maloney
@AIEPodcast Most of the ships in Eve.
. @ShojoAIE @AIEPodcast do you count stories ? The toss up between @elfsternberg car sized ship he mentioned in a story or
. @ShojoAIE @AIEPodcast @elfsternberg The huge colony ship that a crew found abandoned. That one was a bit creepy with a ai that was
. @ShojoAIE @AIEPodcast @elfsternberg not setup right if memory serves
@AIEPodcast The ships of @EVEValkyrie are super fun to fly, but looks wise the Gallente ships of @EveOnline
The first one I ever fell in love with- the Xwing fighter. In middle school, I wanted to be an Xwing Pilot. Still do, in fact!
Durus -= Let me interrupt you right there and say that B-wing trumps A wing!
Abovan – A-wing! Nimble, fast, and can’t be stopped!
Mewkow – The ship from last starfighter. That attack was ahead of its time.
