Welcome to episode #231 of the the podcast celebrating the Alea Iacta Est gaming community, the die has been podcast. This is Mkallah: To my left is Alludra – (Hey, AIE, I think you’re awesome). The bi-annual Craft Faire is next weekend, April 25th and 26th! And AIE has a TON of events planned. Besides the craft faire itself, there is a COOP planned, fireworks, the raffle, and a lot more. Also, there are a ton of mats still needed for this event- there is a full list on the forums, but right now some big ones are Saronite bars and volatile earth for Blacksmithing, Solid stone, Mithril, thorium, cobalt and ghost iron bars for Engineering, Wool, Silk and Embersilk for First Aid, Azure pigment producing herbs for Inscription, Adamantite powder/or ore, Small lustrous pearl, Nightstone (500+), Solid stone, Mithril bars, Moss agate and/or lesser moonstone, Titanium bars for Jewelcrafting, and Thick and Rugged Leather for Leatherworking. CEO Address: Kuda Timberline

First, to my corpmates, and to the wider EVE Community

On April 8th, 2015, mistakes were made. For those of you who are unaware, this killmail is the unfortunate result. Kuda then made a rousing and eloquent post for BRAVE Collective on their subreddit as a caution to people: be careful when moving your stuff.

Killmails are simple things, and they are a favorite of Kuda Timberline’s, so much so that he advocated and spearheaded a segment on our podcast, The Kill of the Week. Killmails represent the harsh and cold reality of EVE; that with a simple misclick or a laxity in precaution: you can lose days, months, and years of effort in a heartbeat.

This is what happened to my friend. I privately asked him if there was anything we can do for him, and he graciously said no. He’s very clearly shaken by the whole affair, and he said in his Reddit post that he’ll be taking a break from industry for a little while to focus on fun things.

Mistakes Were Just Made

First, I had a statement written up about 30 minutes after work. I had a bunch of pictures linked to it and it was pretty awesome. Then I closed the EVE mail and the statement went away. So instead you’re getting an even shorter CEO statement.

Less Than 24 Hours Ago

Late last night, after I had gone to bed, I received a frantic series of text messages from some conspirators that basically reenacted the death of Julius Ceasar. I’m sure you heard about it either through the BNI subreddit or through Alliance mails, but basically Lychton Kondur is no longer executor, and Manalek Askelus is taking his place.

My own views on this matter are somewhat mixed, and tentative. Lychton’s announcement of a voluntary capitulation is good news for all parties involved, and things would have been way messier if he had not stepped down. I will continue to monitor and evaluate the new regime and reserve my judgments for the time, but I think this is a step in the right direction given the recent erratic behavior of our former alliance executor.

Additional good news is that this will have little impact on the day-to-day operations of AIEU, which are going full steam ahead. We’re pretty much an island of sanity in a sea of utterly disorganized misfits, and I promise that the AIEU directorate will continue to have our act together way more than the alliance does.

The Brave and the Beautiful,
The last few weeks has seen an abundance of two things: news about Eve online, and space drama. Now is as good a time as any to talk about both. TEST and HONOR have left HERO, we’re removed a corp from the alliance, some recognizable names have changed alliances, others have their foot out the door, and we’ve moved staging systems. There have been countless instances of people throwing around buzzwords like “narrative”, “meta”, “game preserve”, and others. I can understand how people can see this and say DOOM AND GLOOM, but that is not the case at all. It’s time we remind ourselves of who we are and what we stand for.

Effective immediately HERO coalition is to prepare to deploy to DELVE/QUERIOUS. We will finalize logistical routes to safely, or at least safeishly, move to our staging systems. From this vantage point we are going to accomplish objectives that benefit everyone, buy performing random harassment operations amongst the pipelines used by either “side” when they are approaching timers. In addition, HERO is now offering temporary mercenary services on an individual timer basis during this deployment. We are pleased to announce that these services are available to all entities involved, with few restrictions. (For instance, we won’t attack catch, attack internal coalition members, or go to a region way out of our way, like the dronelands or whatever) We intend to fight and be a pain in the ass for everyone involved.

Alludra_ SWTOR-

So, a teeny tiny trailer came out this week- not that anyone saw it, of course! So, while we all impatiently wait for December to roll around, it is the perfect time to play SWTOR with the AIE guild!

Per the always busy Arv- Yavin 4 is looking for a few good Imp side toons (16-24) to defeat the Ancient Threat. We’ll be going April 22nd at 8:30 ET to complete this slightly complicated quest line. You’ll get several achievements and at least 3 new legacy titles from completing this quest. We’ll group up and start just outside the Outlaw’s Den on Tatooine. If you’re interested, post here and we’ll get it done. No real requirements, just be able to get to Yavin 4 and preferably bring a level 60 toon.

Also from Arv – In preparation for Patch 3.2, he is making an offer to any guildie who contacts him. If there is a particular Armor Set or Piece that you are looking for so that you can have it available for the Costume Designer, and he has that set/piece/partial set,Arv will let you have it.

Abovan is working on a few things for recruiting, and needs your help. He needs quotes from guildies on why join aie. It can be something simple or a few sentences, but nothing too long.
Here’s the ground rules.
No bashing other FCs/guilds/games. Keep it positive.
Family friendly, no inside jokes or references. These are being put out there to help with recruiting people that may not be familiar with AIE, Frogpants, Extralife, or anything else we do here.
If you can, try to take a picture of your character’s headshot. Similar to if your character were to get your picture taken for a newspaper or something.

GAME NEWS

What’s new? Well, [Redacted] is new!
The New Player Experience was added to the game, making things a lot more clear and easier to understand on the basics of the game mechanics. Primarily, the importance that a deck does, and will include two weapons, as well as the understanding that Passive Abilities don’t have to come from the two weapons used in the deck, unlike all seven of the Active Abilities.

The Starter Decks have been updated, to help reflect some of the new changes. Many of the Active Abilities have stayed the same, but Passive Abilities are now taken more optimally from the Inner Wheel, namely, Lick Your Wounds is included in just about every Starter Deck. This is a Heal Over Time ability that stacks, every time you land a hit on your enemy.

Many Active Abilities have icons to denote if they are Builders, or Consumers, a more helpful method of taking a glance at anything in the Ability Wheel, and figuring out where that ability is meant to be used in a fight. In addition, colors of Abilities that are associated with Leech healing have been changed, to reflect that the ability is meant for healing, not DPS.

Damage and health has been reduced for monsters in many of the zones. This is mainly due to a common issue of people hitting the “Blue Mountain Wall” where the game gets drastically rougher, instead of moving up a steady scale.

Fast travel has been added, and the /reset command no longer kills your character. Now, once you’ve found and unlocked an anima well, you can click on it when you bring up the map, pay a rather low PAX cost, and teleport there.

The newest content is scheduled to come out during this month. Unfortunately, it hasn’t come out yet. However, those interested in buying a bundle of the Fall of Tokyo content can buy it for $20. This will include a bonus outfit that will make your character look like an Orochi tank pilot, just like Kurt “Buster” Kuszczak. People who have already bought the previous content, or additions are supposed to get a prorated offer when they buy the collector’s edition.

Unlike previous content updates, Issue #11 Reaping The Whirlwind, will include the dungeon for the Kaiden map, as well as the Lair, and there is supposed to be an update on how Lairs function. Not much has been said about the Lair, but Orochi Tower is supposed to be a dynamic space that will show off themed floors, based on all eight of the subsidiaries of the corporation. Zali, Sycoil, Zagan, Manticore Research Group, Anansi Technologies, Faust Capital, QBL Media, and Plethron will be able to shine and show off how they all contribute to the Orochi home office.

Joel Bylos has stepped down from giving the monthly updates, and right now the Senior Community Manager, Sezra, will be taking over with the monthly development updates for The Secret World. Joel still keeps the teams in Funcom working, but Sezra will be writing up what’s new, and on the horizon.

Right now, if you log into the game this weekend, the Power Weekend is going on. Extra PvP marks, Nightmare Dungeon marks, Research for the AEGIS system, and a free month of Membership subscription status, for each friend you refer, who buys the game within 30 days of this special promotion. It’s like Recruit-A-Friend, for a Buy-To-Play game.
