Destiny 2 – New expansion Shadowkeep is live.

Destiny 2 is now on the Steam Store and the core game is F2P. Prior expansions are now available as DLC.

You can reach the “soft cap” light level in the game with the F2P version.

Patch 8.2.5 is out and we have a #wow-spoilers channel in AIE Discord for those that haven’t played through the content yet … but seriously, go play through it and then watch

AIE Craft Faire

We need all the mats… ALL not just cloth which we have a good foundation from because of people donating for bags to giveaway.

We specifically need Co-Captains for Blacksmithing and Mining. Everyone is welcome to help be gatherers, but if anyone wants to volunteer to help for a specific team they can contact Nevermore in game or in AIE Discord.

WoW Classic – AIEMounts

We have 155 gold in donations from 5 AIE members and so far a single loan of 45 gold to Halftusk to obtain his raptor mount.

SWTOR
October 22 is fast approaching. That is when SWTOR’s new expansion is due to arrive. Currently, the public test server is available and flash points have all been level-synched to reflect the new max level of 75. Bioware is looking for feedback on the difficulty of the flashpoints.

Also, the final PTS achievement is now available for players to earn. If you weren’t able finish the previous achievement, don’t worry. You can continue to work on it throughout this phase as well.

The New York Cantina was this weekend! AIEers including Max, Zen, BC, Marcus, Nick, and Dr. Swtor attended as well as many players from the SWTOR community including Intisar and Kogass. They spent the evening hanging out with the dev team and meeting other players. Zen even got a brunch group together Saturday morning at the Skylight Diner.

FFXIV

ESO
The Dragon Rise even started on October 3rd and runs until October 14th at 10am est. There are 3 rewards that will be unlocked based on player participation – A Green Dragon Imp pet, a Grim Harvester Costume, and the Dragon’s Treasure Trove furnishing. So far the community has unlocked the Imp and the costume. Activities/events that help with earning the rewards – earn the Northern Elsweyr Pathfinder Achievement, go dragon hunting and kill dragons in Elsweyr, and complete the two new Dragonhold Prologue quests that unlock on October 8th.

The new Prologue quests are considered part of the base game, so they will be available for everyone when they go live and they lead to the events that will take place in the upcoming Dragonhold DLC that will be out in Q4.

In addition, during the current event, you can earn 2 event tickets per day. Any monster in Elsweyr has a chance to drop one and a boss monster is a guaranteed drop for 1.
Because of the Event, MFN for next Friday will focus on the new prologue quests and/or hunting dragons depending on how long the quests take.

EVE
War is over. We lost and are evaccing. But WoW Classic is pretty good. Moving is still going. Some of us actually logged into EVE to move.

GW2
We would need 5 people on to get the Fractal Island started, please contact Maellung if you want to help out or have more info.

LOTRO
New expansion pack Minas Morgul is scheduled for release on October 29th. It is available for pre-sale at http://lotro.com/en/minasithil/

GAME NEWS
Patch 5.1 is close, coming to us sometime late October. If the previous history is any indication, we will get a date a few days after we record this podcast. So, keep an eye on our discord in the #ffxiv channel for updates! (Likely to get a launch date on the 18th. More on that in a moment…)

New Main Scenario Quests

The first act of the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid series, starting with “The Copied Factory”. This raid is a collaboration between the FFXIV designers and the NieR:Automata designers to create a spiritual sequel to the NieR:Automata series. This will be the 24-player raid series, similar to the Crystal Tower, Ivaliace, and Void Ark series in previous expansions.

New crafter and gather quests as we get questslines to help rebuild Ishgard, from the Heavensward expansion.

New Game+. A way to replay past experiences and quests from the game, while remaining your actual level. There are some great solo duty and story elements that just watching them on the “Unending Journey” will not suffice. With this new feature, you will be able to jump back into different places in the MSQ to relive those events, but still retain your current level and gear.

New Dungeon, “The Grand Cosmos”. Can be done via the duty finder or with your trusts.

A new Extreme Trial! We know what the fight is, as it normally the last trial in each expansion, but giving the name away is a spoiler. So, it’s that fight with that thing that ends the MSQ of Shadowbringers in the 5.0 content. 5.1 has the extreme version of that.

New Pixie Beast Tribe Quests! A new beast tribe will become available, the first for Shadowbringers. It is a daily quest reputation grind, but it does reward with some very unique and imaginative cosmetics, minions, and also a nice, easy source for a few end game tomestones.

Blue Mage Updates! Increased Level cap, new quests, new skills, new blue-mage specific encounters.

Time to get the band together! The Performance system, where you can play music on an instrument, can now be synced up as a group!

New Housing Plots! All 4 residential districts will have wards 19-21 opened up to purchase for a house. In addition, a 2nd apartment building will become available. The new plots will start off being only available to purchase by an FC, but if they do a move, that means the old plot will become available. So if you are in the market for a new house, this may be the time to buy the house of your dreams. Right now, AIE is happy with our current housing arrangement, and we do not plan on moving.

Some UI refinements, such as glamour chest updates, duty finder ui updates (just adding your current ilevel to the duty finder window to save you a few clicks), emote sorting, sound effects when you are emote’d, and other “surprise features” that sorta just show up in the patched game.

Finally, the 5.1 Live Letter Part LV. (Brings up my roman abacus…) That’s the 55th Live Letter, will be taking place on Oct 18th at 4am PST. Remember, Square Enix is a Japaneese company. Usually, we get further details for the next patch on this 2nd Live Letter, a story and hype trailer, some unannounced game feature, and the date of the patch at the end. Please look forward to it.

Current FC news and End Game

The FC is still rocking, and we are still on Goblin in the Crystal Data Center. You are welcome to come along, play with us with a free demo account, which lets you play up to level 35 on all of the classes/jobs. To join the FC, do you need a retail account, via a retail key, steam, or on the Playstation Network for the PS4 folks out there, as this game does provide true cross play.

Without catching a sale someplace, in US Dollars…
$60 bucks gets you everything to play current content.
$40 bucks get you Shadowbringers, which will include all previous expansions, so if you have a retail key in any way, including the Twitch Prime promotion that happened last year, this will get you current.
$20 for the starter edition, letting you level up to 50 and corresponding 2.x patch content. The Heavensward promotion is over, but we told you that a few months ago that was going to stop at the end of June, didn’t we? 🙂

The current end game activities in Shadowbringers does have a few raids and high-end content available to give you things to do with your gear grind.

When you finish the MSQ, you have a couple of early goals, assuming you want to work on gearing that job. If you want to roll up a new job, by all means, go for it.

First off, will be unlocking content. There are 2 additional end game dungeons and along with the last MSQ dungeon will make up the Expert Roulette, which will your fastest source of end game tomestones, the end game tokens for gear. You can pick up “The Twinning” in the Crystarium, and “Akademia Anydar” in Eulmore near the Southeast Derelicts warp crystal waypoint. Complete these two and you will have unlocked the Expert Roulette. Protip: Asking in FC chat or #ffxiv in AIE’s discord will help you get a group thru there much faster, with cooler people, and will be a much better time.

There is also the Wandering Minstrel in the Crystarium that will unlock the extreme trials for Innocence and Titania.

Also in Eulmore, you will have the vendors that will trade you items for your tomestones, tokens from end game bosses.

When you hit iLevel 425, you will be eligible to enter the normal modes of Eden, the current 8-player raids available at this time. The unlock is also in the Crystarium, and will have you do a few story quests until you can unlock the first boss. There is no trash in Eden, just bosses.

Going thru the 4 wings, for 4 bosses thru there, you will rewarded with an item that once you have enough of them can be traded in for ilevel 450 gear. Some items require more than one token, but the tooltip will show how many you need to get a piece of gear.

By completing the 4th wing, everyone will get a “Blade of Early Antiquity”, which can be aquired once a week. When you get 7 of these, and 1000 Phantasmagoria tomestones, you can turn them in for a iLevel 460 weapon.

Also, other gear items can be purchased with Phantas for iLevel 460 gear as well.

Once you complete the 4 wings and reach an average iLevel of 440, you will then be eligible to run the savage mode of the Eden raid, which is the most difficult content in the game at this time. Your reward for this content will be 470 gear, with the weapon being 475 form the last boss. Items are rolled upon, like a traditional dungeon, but if you don’t get the drop, everyone still gets a consolation prize of a book, which you can get 1 per wing, per week. When you accumulate enough, you can then turn them into the vendors in Eulmore, getting the same piece of gear that would of dropped from the dungeon. So, if the RNG aetherflows are not in your favor, you can guarantee yourself gear by continuing to clear the content over multiple weeks.

AIE does high end content twice a week. Tuesday nights at 10PM EST is what we call gearing up nights, where we do Eden normal runs to help people at least see the content, get explained the fights in a friendly environment, and overall, have a good time.

Thursday nights 10PM EST, is where we hope to do the higher end content. Extreme Trials or Savage Eden is our goal.

We do use a separate Discord server for coordination, scheduling, and raid discussion, but any AIE member can join. Just ask either Durus or Abovan an invite and we can get you on that server.
