Guild Officers

Due to the limitations of the WoW guild roster, it is difficult to identify when officers are online using the normal tools.  So, the officers monitor a special chat channel, aieLFO.  To contact an officer in game, type the following command into the chat window.

/join aieLFO

After you have joined, you can either ask for assitance in the channel or use the following command to see which officers are on-duty.

/chatlist aieLFO

Member Policies and Responsibilities

Alea Iacta Est is a “big tent” guild that encompasses many play styles and areas of interest. The guild provides a community of mutual respect and courtesy in which a member may choose whatever mode of play they wish and can explore different modes of play that they find interesting or unfamiliar. All members, including officers and Centurions, are expected to abide by these rules.

Guild Vault Policies

Officers strongly encourage cohorts of alea iacta est to use the guild bank often.

We encourage the donation of items or materials equal in value to what you are withdrawing, or gold to purchase more bank tabs. However, no one should refrain from withdrawing items from the bank because they do not yet have items to donate. Many of our members have started off with literally no gold on this server, and once they were comfortably established, have become great contributors to AIE. We want to help everyone become established!

Updated Guild Bank Policy 4/21/08

Officers strongly encourage cohorts of alea iacta est to use the guild bank often.

The new policy concerning the use of the guild vault has been published. Please see http://www.aie-guild.org/policy/vault for all the gory details.

Group Calendar 3.4.2: Get it!

Originally posted on the AIE Forums by Secondaid

We've been trying out a couple of solutions for scheduling guild events, pickup Karazhan raids, and other such group activities lately. Both phpRaider and Group Calendar have had their pluses and minuses, but after quite a bit of discussion by the officer corps, we're going to settle on Group Calendar 3.4.2 as a standard. So here's what we need you to do:

1) If you have Group Calendar already, delete it. We would like to start fresh. Also, delete your old database file, which can be found at (your WoW folder)/WTF/Account/(account name)/SavedVariables/Group Calendar.lua. Please do this. Group Calendar has gotten junky lately, and this is a great chance to clear it out. If you don't, then all of the old info will transfer into the new channel.

2) Grab Group Calendar 3.4.2 from your favorite addon site. Curse and WoWInterface are two good places.

3) On your minimap, the sun/moon icon will now be a clock. You can click on the clock to open Group Calendar. On the Setup tab, check "Use Shared Data Channel". The Channel is aiegroupcalendar and the Password is the same one we use for Vent- you can find it in the guild MOTD in-game. (For security reasons, we do not post it here.)

Using the shared data channel instead of the default Guild channel will allow us to escape one problem that bit us pretty hard last week. The guild data channel in Group Calendar suffers from the same problem that the guild UI does- it's limited to 500 people in the guild.

We had some bad times last week when some people who had signed up weren't seen by the person issuing invites. I'd like everyone to know that the confusion over signups was due ENTIRELY to the limitations of Group Calendar.

If you have any questions about Group Calendar, please feel free to ask here in this thread. And feel free to post your own instance runs and events using Group Calendar- it's a great resource!
