Thyatira here, and I wanted to share a story written by a guild member that I personally believe reflects the purpose and overall attitude of alea iacta est. Without further ado, then, a special story from Pyrodeath on why he loves this guild:
|
"I recently started playing World of Warcraft. I started on the Alliance side, and although I loved the game play, I just couldn't find a good group of people to play with. I wasn't exactly sure what a guild was or what the point was. After some serious soloing and frustration, I started looking for help on forums and podcasts to learn as much as I could. I ran across The Instance! and decided to listen to one.
I then downloaded all the episodes and started listening to two to four podcasts a day commuting to work. After a couple days, I decided to check out the Horde side and created a character on Earthen Ring. I continued soloing but found the horde players a little more social and cooperative. I then asked to join AIE and was accepted, quite warmly I might add. It was a great feeling to be in a losing fight and see someone come running up with “alea iacta est” above their head and have them voluntarily help you defeat your enemy. I leveled my toon to 30… and was loving wow and AIE.
I had two of my friends try the 10 day trial and I rolled an alt to play with them. I kept telling them how awesome the game and guild was and commented that if they were to stay they should ask to join AIE. Well, needless to say, they are both hooked and they are both AIE guildies.
Last night was a perfect example of why I Love AIE. We are new to instancing and actually both my friends never ran one and I decided that we would try RFC. I posted in LFG that we needed two players. Well, we got two and both were from another guild. Sure enough, after telling my two buddies how much fun and exciting instances were, it was a nightmare. We experienced multiple wipes, ninja looting, and the others then left group. My friends were really disappointed. I then had the thought, "why not ask on guild chat instead of using LFG?" and again received multiple responses. We set forth to conquer RFC, and what can I say? Perfect teamwork, no wipes, everyone was super happy, and we all added each other to our friends lists.
The next question was, "what's the next dungeon?". My friends thanked me for introducing them to the game, instancing and AIE!
Special Thanks to Scott, Randy and all the Officers for running such a class organization. |

Stigga da Trigga |
|
Class: Hunter (Beast Mastery)
Pets: Laylah (Kurzen War Pather), Tendaji (Rip-Blade Ravager)
Rank: Praetorian
Stigg is one of the last members of a troll family from the Broken Isles
that has produced many distinguished Jang'watha, traditional village
protectors. He has a deep hatred for the Alliance, who drove his
family from their ancestral home, and for the Amani trolls, whose blood is
rumored to taint his lineage.
|
|
|
|
He is a quiet troll (when not taunting the Alliance) with a strong
curiosity who approaches his work as a hunter the way a mountain climber
approaches a cliff face. He knows a battle can be won or lost before the
fighting starts.
He feels a strong sense of duty towards his friends, guildmates, and the
Horde and there is little he will not do to help them. However, he also has a
mischievous side and is not above pelting the unsuspecting with a snowball
to keep them on their toes. |

Officer Identity
I'm sure everyone has seen various members asking if an officer is available, asking if any officers are online, or asking who the officers are. Granted, these questions are often asked in guild chat because members do not want to disturb any unavailable officers via whisper. However, there are certain times when guildies simply are unaware of the means by which they have to identity who the officers are and if they are online.

Let's take a look at a few of these:
If you are seeking to find out if an officer is online, go to your Social Tab, which contains useful information on the guild and your friends. From here, click the Guild tab. I'm sure everyone has been to this tab, and if not, you are missing out on vital in-game, guild-related information! Now, by default, the Guild tab displays Name, Zone, Level and Class of guild members. However, we're looking for Ranks! You will see a button with an arrow in it; click that. The Guild tab will now display Name, Rank, Note and Last Online. Once you've done that, the last crucial step is to click the Rank tab. By doing so, you are arranging the ranks in order, either from highest to lowest or lowest to highest. From here, you should see all of the officer ranks at the top.
Maybe you're looking to find out who the officers are? Yes, you can see the officers in your guild list, but recall from last month that Blizzard has put a 500-member limit on this list. The very best way to find out who the officers are is by going to www.aie-guild.org and clicking the "Officers" tab. This couldn't be made any simpler!
Lastly, we appreciate those of you who ask if an officer is available in guild chat. This allows those officers who are not in an instance, battleground or afk to help out. Sometimes, whispers from guild members are overlooked, so asking for an officer in guild chat is the best way to go! With that being said, though, don't hesitate to whisper an officer at any time!
